Books, More Books, and Audio Books, OH MY!!!

I am excited to finally start reading the e-book “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” by Darren Rowse.  So many other bloggers have shared with me how helpful the book is.  Day 2 you write a list post and Day 3 you promote the list on your blog, and share with others.

I travel so much for my job I listen to A LOT of audio books.  What better list then a list of my favorite books/audio books?  These are some of my favorites, but I have seriously listened to so many more, (And listened to Harry Potter series multiple times, to where I can say lines word for word….YEAH I AM A HARRY POTTER NERD! And proud of it!)  I hope you enjoy! I love adding to my list, so please share some of your favorite books with me.

Top 16 Book/Audio books

1.       The Red Tent   By Anita Diamant

This book changed my life for good, and is where I started my life motto of “Only Forward!”

2.       The Mists of Avalon  By Marion Zimmer Bradley

I love books that are about the Knights of the Round Table.  This book was even more in-depth, and dealt with the families, religion, and the goddess.

3.       Life of Pi  By Yann Martel

The journey Pi took to explore all the different religions, his strength during his journey on the boat with the tiger was inspiring.

4.       Lovely Bones  By Alice Sebold

Probably the saddest book to read if you are a parent, but I felt so at peace when I finished this book.

5.       Eat Pray Love By Elizabeth Gilbert

I will not lie; I am still listening to this book.  The first 2 hours of the audio book, or in book form the first part of her journey, seriously has me hooked.  Makes you realize you really only live once, enjoy every moment!

6.       Mistress of the Art of Death By Ariana Franklin

This book is creepy, disturbing, and Oh my so well-written!  Takes place back in the 1600’s, when women could not be doctors …

7.       Wicked By Gregory Maguire

I have always enjoyed The Wizard of Oz.  This book takes you on a tale that is far beyond what is in the movie.  You can actually feel bad for the Wicked Witch of the East {Elphaba}

8.       Harry Potter Series By J.K. Rowling

I have met many people who say they have not read the books.  I think that there are times in our lives we should take ourselves away from reality, enjoy a little fantasy world once in awhile.

9.       Artemis Fowl series By Eoin Colfer

Another series that can take you to the fantasy world, and really suck you in.  This is a children’s series, but is fun for adults too.

10.   Anything by Clive Cussler – This author is so much fun-  you can explore in the deep blue sea, take a trip to Antarctica, find treasure on a lost pirate ship, and enjoy the Dirk Pitt series.

11.   Anything by Dan Brown – I just finished Deception Point, it was written before The Da Vinci Code.  It was really fun,on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense,  (or in your car gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles.)

12.   Memoirs of A Geisha By Arthur Golden

This book is really well-written, and shares a part of the culture of a Geisha you have never heard before.  She shares some quotes at the end of the book that are really powerful.

13.   Atonement By Ian McEwan

Probably the one movie I enjoyed that haunted me for weeks.  This book sat in my car for months, I was so nervous to listen to this book.  After the effects of watching the movie, I am happy to say this book is really well-written, a sad, but beautiful story.

14.   Stieg Larson – He has a series of three books that are FANTASTIC!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.

Listening to them on audio book was easier for me…. It takes place in Sweden, so the names of the cities and of the people could be difficult to pronounce.  Really fantastic series, I can’t say it enough!

15.   Sisters and The House By Danielle Steel

Sometimes you just need something light or relaxing to enjoy.  Anything by Danielle Steel is wonderful. I have enjoyed her books for years; my first book I read by her was Message from Nam.

16.   Public Enemies By Bryan Burrough

I went to see the movie, you know the where Johnny Depp plays John Dillinger?  Yeah the book is so much more- not better- just more detailed.  It shares the stories of all the notorious criminals of the 1930’s, and why the FBI was created.

What is your favorite book?

Until next time, Come on in, Have a seat,

Hugs, Terra
