Every Christmas growing up my Mom would make Chex Mix. I always associated Chex Mix with holidays, and never made it any other time of the year.
Then a few days ago I had a craving for some delicious Chex Mix. I decided, who needs a holiday to enjoy this snack? Let’s enjoy Chex Mix anytime of the year!
So today, I bring a simple, short, BUT delicious post!
Here is the Original Chex Mix recipe:
I did make some changes, my hubby is not a fan of the Wheat Chex Mix. I also used just lightly salted peanuts, and stick pretzels. I added minced onions, instead of onion powder. I added more then it called for of garlic powder, you can never have enough garlic. I also added about 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
4 1/2 cups of corn Chex Mix cereal
4 1/2 cups of rice Chex Mix cereal
1 1/2 cups lightly salted peanuts
2 cups of pretzel sticks
6 Tbsp of butter
2 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp minced onion
1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit
I also changed around how to prepare the Chex Mix.
Melt the butter in a small sauce pan, add worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, minced onion, and parmesan cheese, mix together.
Put cereal, pretzels, and nuts in a large mixing bowl. Pour butter mixture over Chex Mix, and mix well.
Place mixture on sheet pan. Bake for an hour, mixing cereal around every 15 minutes to bake evenly.
Let cool, and place in air-tight container.
Now it is Snack Time!!!
What treat do you feel should be enjoyed all year around, and not just on a holiday?
Until next time, Come on in, Have a seat,
