FFwD – Garlicky Crumb-Coated Broccoli {plus a fun treat}

What a perfect way to spend a Saturday, on the patio-enjoying the cool breeze-birds chirping- and my babies relaxing beside me.  I have read some Twitter posts that some people experienced snow today, CRAZY!!! Since I have lived in warm weather states for so long, it is hard for me to think there are still storms happening in some places.

Here is my question of the day, “I wonder if I will EVER make a French Friday’s with Dorie dish ACTUALLY ON Friday?”  Time will only tell my friends, and one can only hope.

This recipe was way too easy, but packed full of flavor.  I love finding new recipes that are not time consuming, especially for our schedule during the week.

I do not own a microwave, steamer, or a pot fitted with steaming basket, so I did the next best thing.  I steamed my broccoli with a small amount of water in a pan, and had the pan covered on high.  It has always worked perfectly for me.  Now that does not mean I do not want a steamer, or a pot fitted with a steaming basket.  You know how much I love kitchen toys, and will always gladly add to CafeTerra’s collection.

The only thing I did not have in my kitchen this week was lemons.  I would definitely make this recipe again, and maybe with other vegetables.

What is the fun treat you might ask?  WELL it is not a dessert!  I almost had one to share, but really did not like the pictures.  I actually wanted to share the article I published in QC Exclusive last week, my Homemade Focaccia Bread.  QC Exclusive is a new website here in Charlotte, and will have a bi-monthly magazine starting in July.  I am going to be one of their food contributor’s.  I will share the recipes with you frequently, why not right?  Hope you enjoy as much as my hubby did.

  • I cannot decide which looks more delicious, the broccoli or the foccacia. I think they both turned out so well. I usually cook my broccoli just like you.

    That's exactly how I steam my veggies, too... I add a pinch of salt to about 1/4 cup water and voila! :) Weren't these to die for, though?! We loved this dish!

  • Fantastic job with the Dorie dish. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's renditions of it. Your focaccia looks excellent as well. Regarding my favorite garlic dish, everything is better with garlic so it's impossible to pick just one thing!
