Living in the South, you have an endless supply of peaches. At the farmer’s markets you will see one whole section dedicated to the delicious fruit. So where has my mind been lately? Thinking about what I can make with peaches! I always try to be unique, try something different….well I hope it is at least.
This last Friday, French Friday’s with Dorie made Cold Melon Soup. I should fess up….cold soup freaks me out!
I decided this week was the perfect week to face my cold soup fears. Well the menu I was preparing at Flex and Fit was Gazpacho, so perfect timing. Between melon soup, and gazpacho, I had to find one I liked… I was crossing my fingers…
Let me just say, WOW! The melon peach soup is so refreshing, packed full of flavor, and a little party in my mouth.
I looked at a couple recipes, and then created this recipe from what I had. Guess what I had just picked up yesterday? Peaches! WOO HOO, something unique, and delicious in one little bowl!
Melon Peach Cold Soup Recipe –
1 medium cantaloupe, chopped and pureed (about 2 1/2 cups)
1 peach, chopped and pureed
1/2 cup True Lime, 1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 Tbsp honey
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cardamom
Make melon balls, and peach balls, and sit in bowl, chill for about an hour.
In food processor, puree cantaloupe, peach, buttermilk, True Lime. Once pureed, add honey, salt and cardamom, mix well. Place soup in bowl, chill for about an hour before serving.
When you serve, place melon balls in bowl, and then add soup. Enjoy!
I also wanted to share another fun melon recipe. Have you had a chance to stop by Queen City Exclusive to see my Melon Lime Meringue pie? I decided to make another melon meringue pie, but with honeydew melon, and lime.
A few weeks ago I made Almond Melon Meringue pie….I am having way too much fun with melon these day!
Now time to make lots of fun peach recipes! The melon and peach love is everywhere!
