Homemade Frozen Coffee (to satisfy my Starbucks addiction!)

I can totally remember when I fell in love with coffee.  Can you?  When I was 13 my best friend shared the beauty of the delicious liquid with me. It was love at first sip!   It took me several tries, and many cups of coffee, BUT  I finally discovered my many favorite ways to drink my daily addiction!

Some of the many ways l love coffee:

After a LONG night out with friends,  a cup of strong black coffee is the best medicine!

Take a trip to my friend’s house for a night of catching up, and enjoy a perfectly prepared Cuban coffee to make the night end perfectly!

Sitting in a cafe’ in Ireland with my dear friend sipping on a warm Latte’, and enjoying the sites that surrounded us.

Sitting in the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas waiting to meet actress Jane Lynch, while enjoying a delicious Cafe’ Americano!  (I really did get to meet Jane, and have pictures to prove it!)

When In the comfort of my own home, a cup of coffee with Sugar and almond milk please!

After a long day of auditing restaurants a trip to Starbucks is needed, what I need most is a venti cafe’ vanilla coffee frappacino with soy milk and no whip cream (that is a mouth full for sure….BUT delicious!)

Since my work is very special to me, AND keeps me VERY busy, (especially traveling!)  Lately, that delicious cafe’ vanilla coffee frappacino with soy milk and no whip from Starbucks is making my days seem wonderful!   The problem with this addiction?  Boy are they expensive!  Sooooooo, I decided to make one at home that could satisfy my problem craving.

If you search online, you will find MANY homemade frozen coffee recipes. You just have to find one, and tailor it to your taste buds!  Thank you to Savory Sweet Life’s lovely site, my addiction can continue without breaking the bank!

The recipe is adapted slightly. l hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

My favorite right now is to start with strong coffee( I prefer necafe instant) add splenda, making enough to make ice cubes out of the coffee when is cools, chill the remaining coffee, when ready, put some coffee ice Cubes inthe blender, the coffee and half and half, voila! Also enjoy putting chocolate syrup into hot coffee for a change, Yum! Now I think I will give vanilla also a try! Thanks fellow coffee lover!;)
  • If you freeze the coffee/espresso shots the night before you won't need as much ice and it's a bit stronger.

I gotta say it took me quite a while to start liking coffee. Can't remember exactly how old I was but definitely above twenty something.. ;) Frozen coffee took me even longer, but well I am now addicted to both! I can't imagine a life without it!
  • Coffee is such a great ingredient. I love to cook with it and I love coffee cake and frosting and it's a favourite ingredient in some of my chocolate baking recipes too. And then there's iced chocolate on a really hot day - awesome! xx

  • Congrats to Lora! =DD I had no coffe for some time, that was when I had to switch to chai, because chai was really everywhere and cheap. Those times coffee wouldn't make any sense here in the subcontinent, it was expensive and just horrible. Imagine thats 5 years ago! Oh wow I wish i could have cup now of your amazing almond coffee mix. need to get some Almonds these days. thanks for sharing and I hope u had a nice weekend Terra!

I haven't had a frozen coffee in ages. Gosh, why not? It's good stuff and great for warm weather. Espresso tends to be my coffee of choice, but I'll drink anything!

Congrats Lora! She's a lucky girl. :) Wow, you will totally make me addicted to your frozen coffee. I can honestly say I want to drink this in the morning, afternoon, and one more during evening time when I get sleepy... I'm relying on caffeine to catch up with my two little kids' energy. I think this drink will make me even more hyper than my kids. Which is good, right? :D

No you are not alone, although I am not a big Starbucks fan. But I do love good coffee. My husband likes making lattes, cappucinos, so we are looking for a good espresso machine. We should go to Carlos Cafe on Tega Cay and have some Cafe Con Leche together, when you are in town.
  • Love your trip down coffee memory lane! I am reading this as I'm drinking my first cup of the day. I could give up any food or drink in the world except coffee. It's the best! I'm not normally a cold coffee drinker, but your frozen concoction looks scrumptious! Cheers :-)

  • Congrats to Lora. Love your recipe because one can control the sugar in there. They are way to sweet in coffee shops.
