Well now let’s enjoy the second cookbook giveaway, and there is a bonus to the fun!  I received Table for Two a cookbook for couples from Warren Caterson, and immediately fell in love with the book.  The recipes are elegant, yet very easy to follow, and packed full of gorgeous flavors!

Strawberry Spinach Salad with Basil, Toasted Pecans, and Sugar Snap Peas

Trying to decide which recipe to make was the difficult part…..there were too many to choose from!  With our produce stands just recently opening, a salad sounded perfect!

Now hubby really is not a fan of putting fruit on his salads…..BUT his first bite he was immediately hooked.  This salad is simple, yet beautiful!  I added a few ingredients just because.

Strawberry Spinach Salad with Basil, Toasted Pecans, and Sugar Snap Peas

Here is the recipe from Warren’s book, I will let you know my additions in the ingredients list and note area.

Strawberry Spinach Salad

1 bunch spinach, rinsed and torn into bite-size pieces (I also added red leaf romaine lettuce)
1 cup sliced strawberries (I used a whole pint of strawberries)
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
2 Tbsp white sugar
1/8 tsp sweet paprika (I used smoked paprika)
1 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
3/4 tsp poppy seeds (I used Chia seeds)


In a medium bowl, toss the spinach and strawberries.

In small bowl, whisk together the oil, vinegar, sugar, paprika, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds.

Pour over the spinach and strawberries, and toss to coat.


I added toasted pecans, which I toasted in a small pan for about five minutes. I also added fresh basil, hubby and I love love basil and strawberries together, just chiffonade the basil (cutting the basil into long, thin strips,) add only about a tablespoon to each bowl. Just for fun add some sugar snap peas for a delicious crunch! We did double the dressing, just for some extra for leftovers!
