Time to celebrate Fall with good food AND good friends!! Today kicks off The Fall Harvest Dinner 2013 with nine other bloggers! When Eileen from The Joy of Caking asked if I would make the cocktail……welllllll…..I was sooooo all over that task!
AND the cocktail of choice for this lovely gathering……
First, let’s jump back a few posts before we share what is filled in that pretty glass. Did you see the homemade apple pie I made? The crust includes brandy, and the apple pie filling also included brandy. The brandy does not make the pie boozy, it gives the pie another dimension of flavor.
Now, let’s jump back to the present and discuss the delicious cocktail. Are you wondering why we discussed the homemade apple pie? Well the night I was making my cocktail, I caught a glimpse of the fabulous apple pie, and inspiration hit. Brandy+Apples+sweetness=YUM!
For simple syrup recipe: In small sauce pot over medium heat, warm together 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let the simple syrup completely cool.
For apple pie filling: Mash and strain the apple pie filling, and place in a cheese cloth, strain until you have 1 shot glass full.
For fresh apple juice: Grate an apple and place grated apple in a cheese cloth, strain fresh apple juice.
In beverage shaker, add ice, strained apple pie filling, strained fresh apple juice, simple syrup, brandy, and amaretto, shake well, pour cocktail without the ice in a glass.
No joke, hubby came home from work and drank the cocktail in about two gulps. I said, “I guess you like it huh?” As he was finishing the last drop he said, “this is really good!”
