Apple Chips with Some Apple Love #RecipeRedux

A perfect little snack, and so easy to take with you on your travels. Apple chips are one of the many apple treats I love! Making apple chips is easy if you own a dehydrator- but if you make your apple chips low and slow in you oven, it can take several hours to dehydrate. Either way you make them, you can’t just eat one. A delicious snack that will have you begging for more, healthy Apple Chips!

Apple Chips with Some Apple Love #RecipeRedux

This month for Recipe Redux, we are getting our dehydrator on. I have a dehydrator on my must-have wish list for kitchen toys. I let my apple chips dry out in my gas oven for six hours. If you use your oven, it will most likely not go below 200. Unless you have a fancy oven, then try to set it to 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Here is a link where I share about dehydrating food for a raw diet.

There really is no recipe for this fun snack. Use your mandolin and make sure to cut each apple into thin slices. If you do not have a mandolin, just carefully cut each piece really thin. Then in a single layer, place each slice on a sheet pan. With the oven on warm, or set to 118 degrees F, let the apple slices cook low and slow for about four to six hours.

I love enjoying the apple chips from my family’s apple barn. Their apple chips are not too thin, and very crispy like a chip. They have a special oven to make several chips. So I can buy them by the bag, so perfect! Since I grew up surrounded by apple love, it is fun sharing apple recipes. Here are a few of my apple recipes:
