Duck Poppers #10DaystoTailgate

Have you enjoyed duck yet?  Well, let’s just say, oh my goodness you need to.  Jalapeño poppers provide that perfect bite.  You will experience spice from the jalapeño, and to cool you down there is creamy dreamy cheese.  How about shaking things up a bit?  Take your simple everyday jalapeño popper, AND add some ground duck to the cheese mixture.  You will be going back for more, I guarantee.  Time to grill some Duck Poppers.

This week is a crazy busy at the cafe.  Here is the next recipe I am sharing for the #10DaystoTailgate fun.  Most often you will order jalapeño poppers, and they are deep fried.  To make this recipe healthier, avoid deep frying, and throw them on your grill instead.  If you don’t have this pan, slice down the center of the pepper and not on top.  The pepper will lay flat on the grill, and you can then easily add the cheese mixture.

We had fun making the poppers.  To compliment the poppers we had some grilled veggies held on Flexible Grilling Skewers. My Grill Master wanted to wood smoke something, so we picked up pork loin.  Definitely a delicious dinner.

Thank you to Maple Leaf Farms for the gorgeous ground duck.  Thank you to Fire Wire Grilling, we loved adding our grilled veggies to this fabulous skewer.  Thank you to El Diablo Hot and Spicy Mustard, we added the Texas Chili Mustard to the pork loin.  The Texas Chili Mustard provided some wonderful flavor.  Thank you to Gourmet Garden Herbs, they provided another dimension of flavor to the Duck Poppers.

Save Recipe

Ingredients

16 small to medium jalapeños, tops cut off, remove seeds
8 oz container of whipped cream cheese
1/2 lb ground duck, drain of fat
1 tsp Gourmet Garden garlic paste
2 tsp Gourmet Garden parsley paste
1/2 tsp Gourmet Garden cilantro paste
1/4 cup orange bell pepper, diced finely
Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

Turn propane grill to high heat.

Prepare jalapeños, remove seeds completely.

Brown duck, then drain of fat completely.

In medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, ground duck, garlic paste, cilantro paste, parsley paste.

Fill each jalapeño with cheese mixture.

Place in grill pan, and let cook with lid closed for about 15 minutes, or until jalapeños are tender.
