Cheese in a cocktail has been the discussion in our house for a few weeks.  Vodka is a girls best friend…well so is bourbon.  For this special post we are working with dill flavored Castello Havarti cheese, AND vodka.  The goal of the post was to “Feed Your Creativity” when using the the Castello cheese.  Since you can infuse vodka with flavors, it was a perfect medium for the dill havarti.  Combining cheese-infused vodka with a homemade bloody mary mix was beyond delicious.  So who wants to be adventurous and enjoy a tall glass of a Blood Mary Cocktail with me?

This recipe uses my favorite tomato company, Tuttorosso Tomatoes.  Most bloody mary cocktails use tomato juice, but for this recipe I used tomato sauce instead.  The tomato sauce is thicker, but with the vodka, ingredients, and ice, the tomato sauce works perfectly.  Since the star of the show is dill havarti, I added dill to the bloody mary recipe.  There are so many fun ways to serve a bloody mary, so adding the dill havarti cheese cubes was a perfect addition.  You can see in the background of the photo above, the shot glass with the cloudy liquid.  That cloudy liquid is the dill havarti cheese infused vodka, it was perfect with the bloody mary recipe.

This recipe is easy to make, and could potentially be a gulping drink.  So be warned, it is that good, and please drink responsibly.

I have worked with Castello Havarti cheese before, and love all their different varieties of cheese.  Here is my other Castello Havarti post:  Havarti Mac n’ Cheese with Mesquite Smoked Baby Back Ribs.

You are so clever! What a fabulous idea to garnish a Bloody Mary with cheese! It’s been awhile since I’ve had one-probably the last time was when my husband and I went to Laramie Wyoming to see his college’s homecoming football game in the freezing cold/blizzardly weekend. Guess what warmed us up all weekend a the bar? 🙂 Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! xoxo

Never thought to garnish a cocktail with cheese! But it’s a perfect match for this delish looking Bloody Mary. Great idea!

  • The garnishes in this Bloody Mary remind me of the ones in an Irish Bloody Mary I had for Sunday brunch today. It had celery, dill pickle and 2 pieces of bacon. It was a meal in itself. So now you know that I love Bloody Mary’s of all shapes, sizes and ingredients. Love what you’ve made here!
